Alan, STEBRO does not offer a complete stainless steel system for your '85 Van. STEBRO is currently only producing a 1.9 Muffler, a 2.1 muffler and a 2.1 J-pipe, see my STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust System, { http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm} website. The Stainless Steel pipes I offer are from DANSK and are for the 2.1 engine. There is a way however that a complete 2.1 stainless steel exhaust system: {DANSK header pipes, STEBRO J-pipe & Muffler & EMICO CAT}, can be mounted on the 1.9 engine. To do this you will need to change the rear aluminium motor mount bracket to one from a 2.1 engine. Best is try to find a used one as this piece from the dealer is $350. If I can be of any further assistance please contact me privately. Cost effective, I think so if your keeping your van long term. I know some other aftermarket mufflers are cheaper and have lifetime warranties but they will all fail eventually especially in our climate. They will eventually give you another muffler if they are still in business when you need it but you will still pay the cost of removal and installation and hassle with all the pipes, bolts, gaskets, etc.

Cheers
