There's no room to work in there. Extremely close between gears and plastic case. I tried crimping the gear. It lasted a few months. I also have an odometer that is locked up from the Loctite technique. Get a new gear or farm it out. You also have to pull off the speedo needle and I have had these shatter. The foil gets bent up, plastic housing crack!

Hello, What would be wrong with roughing up the little shaft the gear goes on, cutting a small groove or roughing up the hole in the gear, and using some adhesive such as a JB Weld or a Loctite to hold it on?
