Subject: horn whacky again
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

When I purchased my 83 air-cooled Westy, the horn would only work when turning the steering wheel to certain positions. I replaced the horn contact ring on the bottom of the steering wheel and the horn worked perfectly for several hundred miles. Then, on a trip to the mountains, the horn started going off on it's own when turning.

I do hear a grinding noise around the horn ring when turning the steering wheel. Did I install the horn ring incorrectly? Should I not have put dielectric grease around the ring?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc
