Just an off hand suggestion .................. I use fiberglass roll
fabric for lots of applications that I previously used asbestos roll wrap
for.
In some cases I use muffler seal as an 'epoxy' to make it rigid.
It works well in the applications I used it on, it doesn't fall off or
move around.
There has to be a weak link in everything and more may pop-up but other
than chipping by rocks (not a problem on anything buy Vanagons etc.)
99% of header systems are in a protected environment so they aren't
subject to the salt, rocks that rear engine Vanagons have.
