Doh! You are right of course. I never remember the early VR6s in the Corrados and GLS Passats when I think about this engine type. However this engine is an in-line. The one thing that I can't understand is that this is a 2.5l engine rated at 109 hp! What is up with this? The 2.6l Inline 5 from SA is rated considerably higher. I am wondering why this engine isn't capable of 130hp? Anyone know? Huh? The VR6 was in the 93 Corrado. It had been in development for several years by that point. I was asking mainly cause I'm putting the SA 2.6l Inline 5 into my TriStar. An engine (as far as I can tell) that wasn't really available in any US vehicle. The 2.5l 5 sounds close enough that I might use it for reference (especially on bolt torque values and such.) I'll have to pick up a Eurovan Bentley now....
