For me it would be the bugs. These things are not the least streamlined with minimal drag coefficient anyway. I prop the hatch open with a stick (broom type) I put under the rear seat, when I want to access the engine (which is seldom usually). I like putting my bikes on the rear hatch Yakima Bike rack I have there. They will get pretty dusty on long dirt roads and kinda dirty from road-water in the rain.
