Thanks guys. Had point gap set at .018". Dwell was reading 30. I swapped in a set of used Bosch points, and gapped them at .016" Started it up and immediately dwell was at 50. Redid the timing, and the idle setting, and off for a test drive. It starts even easier than it did. Good power, and no hesitation if I slow did then hit the gas again. Basically running great! Still backfires/diesels if I shut it down when in Park. If I shut it off in any other gear no backfire. Hmmmm oh well. Always has done this. 2 weeks ago I was even afraid to remove the distributor. Now I can remove the old, reinstall a new one, set the timing, all in a matter of 15 minutes. Love to learn new things! Thanks Paul '82 GL |
