At that road speed the engine is turning 4000rpm > and developing nearly its rated 50HP Incidentally, the 1.5L is *not* rated at 50 hp, and if you swap for a 1.5 your top speed will probably suffer accordingly. Did NA Vanagon diesels have oil squirters? I thought those were only in the turbos.
