I want to thank everyone for the advice on my "hot" A/C. You all led my in the right direction to the "low" side valve. (with the blue cap) So nice and accessible. But I put the gauge to it and it read about 25 so I gave it just a little shot of freon and the pressure was already up to just over 45. I thought what gives? And then figured it would have to be something complicated and expensive. But as I was watching the wheels and belts turn (and all were) I wondered where the familiar 'squeaking' of the condenser had gone to. I remembered that someone had mentioned fuses behind the cabinet. I thought, why not look, fuses are easy and cheap. Sure enough, after I unloaded the cabinet and found the fuses, I saw that one was blown. I reversed the two and started the A/C and there was that lovely squeak but now the blower wasn't working. Eureka! Also, with the compressor REALLY on, the pressure went down close to '0". A little 20amp fuse and some freon and it's blowing cold again. Thanks everyone. I'll be sure to run it a little bit each week to keep the system lubricated as long as possible.
