So why did a recent Bosch rebuild have obvious hand soldered brushes in an obvious non Bosch regulator? I sent it back before I even installed it. I have also experienced a number of Bosch starters that failed shortly after installation. Usually the solenoid (click but no start) or Bendix,(starter turns but not engine). Unfortunately, they can cut corners too.

Well that's just BS. A genuine Bosch Reman alternator gets the stator fully rebuilt, windings desoldered and resoldered, the slip rings turned if not worn beyond spec or replaced with new, dymamically balanced, new bearings and brushes and brush springs, new diode set, new voltage regulator, new pulley nut and washer, in other words, not rebuilt but REMANUFACTURED to NEW SPECS throughout. And, if they are low on cores, you many times get a NewMan unit, which is a brand new alternator for the remanufactured price.

And that goes as well for their ReMan starters, fully REMANUFACTURED, not just "rebuilt" like NAPA and virtually all others. Bosch is the no compromise solution to lowest cost per mile. All others are just wannabees. Indeed, in this case you do get what you pay for.
