Several months ago Larry made several posts about the whole process and end result. IIRC he spent something like $1800 to have his existing system fully serviced, a new larger capacity compressor, and the front unit installation. The front unit tucks in behind the glove box and blows through a vent unit that replaces the ash tray. I believe you have the option of sacraficing the fresh air vents to A/C only use if you choose. The installation was done by Euro Coolers in Rockwall, Texas up close to Dallas. Stan did a drive by before Larry had the install done and said the place didn't look like much. Check out their website eurocoolers.com. They specialize in A/C installations for old VW bugs, buses and Ghias.

Austin may be hot but it is not the suffocating hot of Houston.

Someday my wallet will be $1800 lighter and my van much, much cooler.
