Subject: Leak on the big rubber gasket under the head?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello, I finally got one of the heads off my WBX and there is some pitting where that big gasket was. My questions are these:

How does the leak here hurt anything? Water in the oil or in the cylinder is bad but this would just leak to the outside. If the coolant didn't get low what harm is done?

Second, is there any type of sealant that would make this not leak with the pitting? I know it's hot here but it can't be significantly hotter than the coolant temperature since the coolant is all around it.

Third, is there anyway to easily tell the difference between the 1.9l and the 2.1l. I can't find the number on the block and it is not the original engine. It is Digijet. Steve
