Nah, that test won't work on a Westy because of the load reduction relay, which is in the 2nd battery compartment area behind the drivers seat. Find the silver relay and yank the blue wire off it and try the test again. The relay coil is connected to the charge (OXS/ALT) circuit and causes the apparent short circuit. Is normal for Westy... It raises hell with Subaru conversions on Westy's because of the way the Subaru alternator idiot light circuit works. Ask me how I know...
