Chris...Sounds like you either have a bad pilot bearing which is hanging up the input shaft at times (usually when hot) or the dreaded 3rd/4th slider problem starting. Either way, the trans needs to come out and the pilot checked first. If its ok, then the tranny needs rebuilt. Holler if any questions. Daryl of AA Transaxle Duvall, WA. Was able to get it into 3rd then = fourth and the drive train then ran smooth. I did notice that the = clutch didn't seem to disengage when I pushed it in, then the problem = went away as I got closer to home. Next day ok except one time didn't = want to go into first. went into 3rd ok, then was ok. Is now at good mechanic. He has driven the van home and back to work, = trying to discover mystery problem. He said that just one time had same = problem. He would like more evidence of a problem before the = transmission comes out so we know if a new trans is in order. Mech and I agree it seems to take just a little too much effort to = push/pull the trans lever through gears 1-2 the hydraulic oil has been flushed. nothing is leaking=20 trans is being drained, oil inspected and refilled tonight. Looking for input, from others that may have had same problem and what = it means. (( Obviously I know there is something wrong with the = transmission or clutch.))
