Subject:      Want to test drive some diesel vanagons - Seattle

I just bought a 1.6L diesel Westy with two bad cylinders.  It drives, but
just barely, and I've never been in any other diesel vanagon.  Anyway, I'm
looking to replace the engine with another diesel, but can't decide whether
to go with another used 1.6L non-turbo (cheap), or new 1.9 non-turbo (not
so cheap), or maybe even a 1.6TD, 1.9TD or even a TDI (very expensive).


I'd definitely appreciate any insights any of you may have regarding any of
the various options.  Better yet, if there's anyone in the Seattle area
with a diesel vanagon (any engine), who'd be willing to take me for a quick
