Subject: Is my Clutch/Brake fluid leaking?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I bought my '87 Syncro Westy in January and the previous owner said nothing about having clutch problems. After a week or so (it was a little chilly outside, but I am in Texas so it wasn't that chilly) I began having a hard time getting the van into first gear from a stop. I found that if I pumped the clutch once or twice then held the clutch pedal down like normal the van would go into first nice and smooth. As long as I would pump the clutch, the van would shift smooth through all gears. I found that my fluid is really low. However, my the only fluid leak that I have is a very slow one from the vicinity of the front differential/VC. Could this leak be my clutch hydrolic fluid? What else could this fluid be, a leaky VC? It is a pretty thick/heavy fluid like brake fluid. If this isn't clear enough, let me know and I'll attempt to clarify. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help. Brett Baer '87 Syncro Westy
