It's probably not as bad as you fear. The early 'coolant low level
control unit' pegs the temp needle on the hot end just because the
coolant level in the tank is a little low. The later version just blinks
the led to warn you that the coolant is low but leaves the temp gauge
reading the temp as it really is. The system holds 4 gallons so it is no
disaster if it gets a quart or 2 low and the led blinks.
