Joe, the fridge temp setting switch does not adjust the flame size in
any way. There are only 2 flame sizes, pilot on and burner on. Adjusting
the temp setting affects how often the main burner comes on but not how
much flame it has while it is on. Flame size is a function of propane
pressure out of the regulator and the size of the hole in the burner gas
jet. You are right that flooding is the main issue with getting them
lit. Once it gets flooded it becomes very difficult to light until you
stop holding in the button and instead just pump air in for a while to
clear out the excess gas. The mistake most people make is to hold in the
safety button too long before pushing the ignitor button. Pump more,
hold button less, that is the key.
