There's those thick blankets to protect the furniture for moving at reno-depot in Montreal, Quebec. They are 18$CAN each, and about 6 x 6 foot. You could use like 2 layers of it and then put on a car cover over everything... You could also use extra thicness with sleeping bags. Beware of the zippers scatching the paint. At least it will be stuff laying around that could be used for this kind of emergency. I have 2 of those in the van to protect my interior when i am moving big stuff. They are folded in 2 over the rear cushion on the engine lid. Right now it protects the rear cushions from by bikes. Keep in mind that I don't have that rear closet. I also use both blankets that I lay over the lower bed to add extra cushion when sleeping, very comfy! I know it's not the best idea, but this was not mentioned before.
