In addressing oil leaks on a type IV engine I had first replaced the valve cover gaskets, push-rod seals and while installing a sandwich plate for the addition of an oil cooler I just figured I'd give the Oil Pressure bypass screw a little nudge to tighten it. You guessed it. The darn plug was loose. It took two full turns to tighten it up and after some second thoughts I broke open a new gasket set and installed a new aluminum sealing ring. Darn! guys when you buy a used vehicle from anyone it's just moments or weeks before catastrophe hits. I had been well over 1000 miles in this car and was beginning to feel that I had things under control. Just a fluke that the plug hadn't just fallen out while the engine was running.
