Ron, I'm going to disagree with you. Those that you sell >DO NOT< fully retract. When you push the antenna all the way down there is still a stub of about 12 inches that sits up from the fender. I have one of those sitting here right now. Now mind you, the type you sell (or at least sold me) are prefectly functional antennas and I've seen them on many a Vanagon. I've also seen them on many an old Beetle (which you might notice cross references on your site to the ones you sell.) The other type (that was OEM on at least two of Vanagons) has base section that extends downward about 12 inches (inside the fender/sheet metal). The less expensive ones don't have that down tube.

The antenna on my old 71 Super Beetle when fully retracted had a portion that was about 12-13 inches long above the fender, just like the type I got from you.

However, the type I >DID< put on my Vanagon retracts flush with the sheet metal (it comes with a key so that you can get it back up.) They run about $45.

I had to get this type after I got car covers for my Vanagons (otherwise I would have had to cut a hole in the car cover.
