Subject: Useful Tool for Software Requiring 1280x1024 Res

I found this useful tool for running software that requires 1280x1024 resolution, for those who don't use that resolution all the time and are tired of having to change resolution back and forth when opening the software.

Download EnTech's free MultiRes software at http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ or any of the various sites that have it. (I couldn't download it from this site, but found it elsewhere on a Google search.) Put it in a folder called C:\Program Files\MultiRes (or if you put it elsewhere, change the location in the text below).

Then create a file called changeres.bat with the following text:

"C:\Program Files\MultiRes\MultiRes.exe" /1280,1024,32 /exit

start /w [enter filename here]

"C:\Program Files\MultiRes\MultiRes.exe" /restore

pause

cls

Save this to the same folder as the file you wish to open in 1280x1024 resolution. Put the name of that file in place of where I put [enter filename here].

From then on, open that file by clicking on changeres.bat instead of on the file name. (I put a shortcut to it in my start menu.) Your computer will change to 1280x1024 resolution automatically when you start the program, and then back to the original resolution when you close the program. This supposedly works on Win 98, ME, 2000, and XP (I tried it on XP), and, of course, assumes that your monitor and video card support 1280x1024.

Incidentally, this can be used for any software/resolution by changing the name of the program you wish to open, the desired resolution, and the color depth (represented by the 32). Of course I am not responsible if your computer goes up in flames, and do not provide tech support. :-)
