Yes. In electrical systems, resistance in a circuit means that some electricity is converted to heat. If too much resistance is in a circuit, the voltage drop may be significant to the devices (and hence make them work unreliably, or not at all.) Additionally, if there is too much resistance that should NOT be there, the heat generated may do bad things, like melt switches (aka headlight switch), or wires, or even cause a fire.
