This can be avoided by using anti-sieze, grease, vaseoline, motor oil or anything that on the threads, and seat of the nuts.

I just removed the wheels on my parts van. One wheel was over tightened a ton. I broke 2 socket, and the original VW tire wrench. I bent a Craftsman open end wrench, in to a pretzel, and (get this) I took a 4 way wrench and twisted it until it broke off. I gave up for the day. Next I brought my torches over. I was able to break them all loose but ended up that all of them had been on for so long and so tight, that they all gulled the thread.

This could have all been prevented if anyone would have greased the thread any time in the life of this vanagon...... ERic
