Subject: Rats... it's tranny time
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Well, the light howl that my tranny has been making in 4th gear has recently gotten ugly. Over the course of a week or so it has progressed to a nasty howl that gets worse with increasing throttle and goes away on deceleration. Under moderate/heavy load around 50-60 MPH it sounds positively angry... Very nasty.

I called Daryl at AA transaxle this morning and talked him into sending me a fresh tranny. (actually I think the credit card numbers did the talking... :-)

Never a dull moment. Once the tranny is done, I think I will have replaced just about every moving part on the van. I guess I was warned that these things aren't cheap to own, but I guess I didn't *really* understand what that meant ...

At least I don't need to worry about what to do with all my free time. I spend more time laying under the bus getting greasy than most people spend in front of the TV. Sigh...

Guess I better get my stereo install finished tonight so I can move on to the next project...

Any words of wisdom on tranny R+R?

Wishin' I was campin',
