Subject: Fw: r12 or redk tek capacity for 84 sd 508 based air conditioning
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Ok I know this was posted out there and I can't find it in the archives. I need to know the total capacity of r12 for an 84 with the sd508 compressor on it.

I replaced two lines and flushed the others out with mineral spirits and the air compressor while disconnected from the components. The new to me compressor has been drained of all oil. I am replacing all the o rings then I will add 3 oz of oil to the compressor and 3 oz at the new dryer.

Then I can vacuum down the system to ensure no leaks? Or should I be taking this step before adding the oil?

This leaves rotating the compressor by hand to ensure proper oil distribution and then I should be ready to add the Red Tek refrigerant.

Separately - I will be loading up and heading back to Aldamas Mexico for a long weekend leaving tomorrow afternoon. I will post a trip report upon returning. The last trip in March was fantastico.
