I agree.  Of all the problems I hear about on the list, my '85 1.9L has had
few of them.  The problems it did have, like corrosion and the engine only
going 245,000 miles, are normal age-related car problems, not VW problems.  Until
the day I retired it, my '85 1.9L engine never dripped oil OR coolant.  It
just got old.


I'd be curious to see the ratings for the '92 Jeep Wrangler (my wife's car).
It has been in the shop only once in 11 years, for a heat-warped gas tank
(plastic in Phoenix = bad).  Got 106,000 miles on it now.
