The fridge works best if there is some food in it. Other wise, every time the door is opened all the cold air falls out. If you are getting an ice film on the fins, then all is well. The fins can be removed from the single pipe they sit on, (press over fit). Remove them and replace that dried out grease with lots of heat sink compound. Will help to transfer some more heat into the cooling tube.

After running three fridges side-by-side, I picked the one that ran the coolest on propane, cleaned the burner well, and installed it in my van. It was cooling 40 degrees below ambient. I also installed a new propane tank yesterday, and the fridge was cooling exceptionally well (empty) at 40-45 below ambient. Then, last evening it began to cool less, like 30 degree difference. I first checked the regulator and readjusted to 11" W.C., very slight improvement if any. The fan on the fins comes on occasionally, there is an ice film where the ice-trays go, the door seals well, but I can only get 45 degrees (measured digitally about 2" in front of the cooling fins) at 75~80 ambient. Am I expecting too much, or is there something else I am missing here? Thanks in advance for any input!

Karl
