Can Type IV heads be removed while the engine is in the van? It appears I have a broken valve (the spring is all the way against the rocker).

The Haynes manual says you have to remove the engine to get at the heads. But looking at how things are mounted, it appears the heads can be removed in place. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I don't want to waste the time to try and remove the heads if I need to remove the engine.

Thanks!

Jon
