I'm not sure if this is in the archives, but the Blue electical ribon on the back of my Speedometer/odometer needs to come out for repair to my van's odometer. I have photos if you want them. But I'll try and explain it: 1991 Canadian Syncro: The speedometer comes off rather easily - the 4 screws on the back, The ribbon removal was easy once I figured out how: I gently pulled the ribbon up and over the 3 black plastic arrowhead nipple holders, but then the ribbon is still held on by 6 (in my case) electical spots. The trick here is to realize that the 6 little contacts are part of a plastic plug that plugs into the back of the speedo/odo. Hold the Speedo/odo with the cable fastener (back where the speedo cable attached) up, look at the cross section of the unit - where the blue ribbon electrical contats are. Now above the printed circuit board but below the main plastic back plate is the plastic plug. Use a knife or screwdriver to pry this plug UP off the 6 pins (that you can see) and out of the whole on the back of the plate. The female plug remains attached to the blue ribbon. That may not be a great expaination but I hope that I've helped. If you want/need more, I have pictures or we can talk. Malcolm __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
