I have an '87 Vanagon 1/2 Camper (weekender). I just replaced some worn out Vredestein Transport Steel with Michelin Agilis. Agilis had the highest recommendation and therefore I went that route. After driving home over mountain roads I discovered these tires don't have near the road handling capability (more particularly cornering) as my worn out Vredesteins did. As it turns out I purchased the Agilis 61. I did not realize at the time, nor my tire dealer, that there are different models of the Agilis ie. 61 vs. 81. I am wondering if the 81 would provide greater lateral stiffness and would it be a better tire in this regards. Or if the difference in cornering is a result of going from an almost bald Vredestein with more of a summer tread to the new Agilis with fresh all-season tread that would, I assume, have some flex to it. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. Matt |
