I had that stereo in a '95 Golf...The jack does take the feed from the headphone line of a portable CD player. I got the correct cord from Radio Shack for a few bucks.

I have a VW stereo I picked up at the junkyard in my Westy that has a "cd" jack on the front. I don't know what year or model VW the stereo came from. It does have the anti-theft code. I am guessing late 80s early 90s? Does this jack take the feed from a portable cd player's headphone line? I would need to get a cable with 1/8" stereo (male) phone jacks on each end? I guess I could take two trashed head sets and solder the wires together.
