If you are just going to drive your van locally, rebuild yourself. It'll be fun, you'll learn something, you'll take pride in your work. No better feeling than firing up that engine and feeling your handiwork come to life.

If you are going to be 850 miles from home, in the desert, at night, with the sound of coyotes in the background, or in the middle of the Alcan highway, or in the ghetto, or any place you REALLY don't want to break down in, then you should think about a professional doing the job. The reliablilty issues of any of these list vendors will be discussed at length, check the archives.
