this subject has been talked about several times...i had a brand new starter and battery on mine and it did the same thing and on trips only...the best way to solve is to have a relay between switch and starter that will give the extra kick when the starter is really hot. the rock or hammer is a simple solution. since mine was also an automatic, i used to go underneath and made contact with a srewdriver on the + bolt and the starter itself and we were off. but a lot of people do not like to do this, with a manual trans...but when you are out of nowhere, well...
