silver lining is that you may help educate the mechanic, and thereby help
a future vanagon customer.

also, unless the work involved a really thorough flushing, you've probably
got a mixture of at least two kinds of coolant in there; likely fine from
the thermal standpoint, but not, long term, chemically; and even if
thoroughly flushed, some old coolant will remain in/under gaskets and so
on. best thing for engines is to stay with whatever chemistry was in there
for the last zillion miles.
