Joe asked if anyone ever cleaned their carpets/seats/etc. with a real carpet cleaner. The answer is: YES! We actually OWN one of those (It's a Bissel, I think.) It is made for floor carpeting, as it is liek a giant vacumm cleaner, but it also has a detachable hose and attachments. I've done this procedure about two or three times over the past year and a half. (And once my wife took out the curtains and washed them on gentle/cold water.) The carpet cleaner makes the carpet and upholstery look just about BRAND NEW. (Everything comes out super clean, except for the armrests. I guess the dirt is just too embedded there, but they stil look better than before.) The problem is that within a few weeks the carpets (expecially in on the floor next to the stove/sink.etc. on my Westy, look dingy again. As everyone knows, VW made a bad choice in choosing light grey in a CAMPER of all things.

Anyway, maybe if we in So Cal have another BBQ, I'll bring the carpet shampooer so people can clean their carpets and seats. Oh yeah, one more thing. It's really groos the first time you clean the upholstery. It pulls up dirt that is in the padding underneath. Looks like mud...
