Gotta concur with both replies. Several unique spots headed down the Kenai Penninsula toward Seward and Homer. Whittier is a neat side trip. Don't miss the Bird House or Portage Glacier.

When you head up toward Fairbanks there are more unique hole in the wall kind of places and characters than you'll find in most other places. Use plenty of bug repellant. You can hear the mosquitos coming about a half mile before you can see them!
