Subject:      '88 Vanagon - failed cruise control

I've had good service out of my Westy, but not long ago, my cruise control
stopped working.  I know where several of the related parts are and have
checked for leaking vacuum hoses and disconnected wiring.  Up until it
failed it had been very reliable.


Any experiences out there with such or suggestions as to most likely things
to check?  When I try to engage it, it behaves as if it never even got the
signal to try.  The last couple of times when it did work, it sort of just
stuttered and then let go.  I miss it and would like to get it going again.
