EERO Volkswagen used to be the VW Dealership there. I wanted to have some work done on my 85 GL but they wanted to eat me alive. No way!! They wanted $1250.00 to R&R the power steering rack. If you feel you must have a dealer look at the problem, then at EERO try and talk to a guy by the name of Carl Vernon. He's their #1 mechanic and knows his stuff. Find out what he has to say. Good man.

If you want to try someone else, check the local phone book and see if Johnson's VW service is still listed. Real VW whiz. Ask around, there used to be a couple of more in Anchorage, but I don't have any experience with them.

For my 85 GL, I used Glen at Glens Auto Repair down just out of Stirling between Stirling and Soldotna on the Stirling Highway. The Stirling Highway takes off of the Seward Highway at Moose pass and is the road you take to get to Homer, Ak. If you get into the Stirling/Soldotna area look him up. Good man, knows his stuff, solved lots of problems for me. He's just off the main road, so you may have to hunt him down, but it's worth it.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
