Subject: help! wiring diagram...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

got my new 82 westy home, after driving it 1900 miles from New Mexico.

my ambitious neighbor comes over and REALLY wants to "hook it up"

so I let him replace the non-working Audio Bahn cassette player with an old Alpine CD player I had laying around.

in the process, he caused a small dash fire. okay I didn't see any flames, but there was a LOT of smoke and burnt rubber smell. A red wire that goes from the headlight switch to the radio area is now without insulation, and has burned itself to other insulation. And for some reason the right side parking lights are now always on. What color wire would that be? I guess that hot wire burned itself to the right side parking light wire.

So I could sleep tonight, I pulled the battery cable.

Does anyone have the resources to get me a wiring diagram tomorrow? I'll try the dealer, but they don't like to share. Nobody locally carries old Bentleys, however I will order one very soon.

I guess i'm going to have to replace that harness with a junkyard one?

Is this a big job? should I just snip that wire off and run a new one?

with the dash cluster, ash tray, and stereo removed, Its not real hard to get at, however the entire harness is intertwined with all sorts of other wires.

I may try just snipping it off and seeing if its drivable tomorrow.

I won't let my neighbor do any more "help" to my poor van.
