Subject: vanagon failed CA Smog - CA Help
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Anyone in CA (Bay Area) can help me pass smog? I've always past with flying colors but today I failed. I don't understand why?

Here's what I got for 84 Vanagon that is in great shape:

901 RPM HC max is 150, I got 61; co max is 1.20, I got .13 PASS 2554 RPM HC max is 180, i got 344; co max is 1.20, I got .36 FAIL on HC

Why did I fail on just HC? In the past I drove van on freeway to warm up before taking test. This time van sat for about week before I took for test. Could this have caused me to failed because I needed to warm up cataylic converter. Smog mechanic said warming up makes no difference.

Is there anyone local that can help me pass?
