I got lots of helpful responses on this issue ranging from really good axle removal information to diagnostics to a few creative fixes. One of these creative fixes was to get a needle injector and inject lots of new CV grease. This made the noise quieter, and happen less frequently when driving, but it still happens, especially just after left-hand turns. You really don't hear it on the highway. Considering that I was planning on starting an 1800 mile trip on tuesday of this week, it's a good thing to deal with it now. I may be using some of that axle-pulling information since me shop has already told me (on another matter) that they're slammed this week. Thanks for all your help. Jim |
