Coolant leak - so I'm replacing both hoses on the bottom of the radiator ('90 2.1 with alloy wheels). Already have the new ones (thanks Bus Depot!), but there is a part that I don't have - there was a nylon (maybe) o-ring fitting thing inside of the straight part of the hose. It fit around a corresponding groove on the plastic tube that returns(?) water to the engine (if I have the directions right). After pulling the hose off the back I found it inside of the hose. What is this part? It doesn't look like a classic o-ring. ______________________ \ / \__________________/ The angle is exaggerated. It has a lot of rusty fibrous stuff on the larger-diameter part of it. There's no evidence of it in the Bentley manual and I'm reluctant to install the hose without a new one. -- bcnu - Grungy (Kailua, HI) '60 dddPanel '69 Bug '90 Vanagon '93 Eurovan '00 Audi A6 Avant grungy@grungy.com opinions are just that.obviously. |
