Yes I have done this.  As the matter of fact, this is one of the reasons
I get so pissed at some of the BS here.  Just about everything I speak
of is first hand knowledge, or I keep my keyboard quiet.
   The resistors I have repaired have not failed. One has been in service
for over 2 years.
