Or at least through a beefier switch, but the industry standards balance out with the cheapest components going into the vehicles that will allow the vehicles to have a 5-6 year life span. We vanagon kooks force the poor things to live for 25 years and more in an era where vehicles aren't expected to. But yes, setting up relays (And beefier wiring) throughout the dash-board switches and components would probably greatly increase the life of many things.
