First, try boosting it. You may have "power" at the battery but it could be low enough (left the radio on?) that it won't start. Take the engine cover off. You'll then be able to hear the solenoid click.

Make a test bulb with a 12v lamp and some 16 gauge wire and a pair of alligator clips. Hook it up between the low amp input to the solenoid and ground. (NOT to the large cable!!) Turn the key to the start position and see if the bulb lights. Yes- the switch and leads are ok. No, and there is a problem upstream of the solenoid. Do the same at the switch to determine whether it's the switch or the wiring. If all OK, you can short across the solenoid to test the starter. (it's in neutral, right?)
