Nostalgia is part of it, but more importantly, Ford still owns the
rights to the Galaxy name - saves a bundle on searches and registration,
etc.

Ford has been using the Galaxy name in Europe for this minivan since the
inception of the joint venture with VW--so it has no "retro" panache
there.
Ford is bring the "500" part of the "Galaxie 500" back to the US for
their
Taurus replacement due in a year or so in the United States.
