Use an impact screw driver to get those screws out. They have a 3/8 drive with a bit holder for various screwdriver bits that come with them. You hold it in place and hit the end sharply with a hammer. Very handy on stubborn larger phillips head screws. Cheap ones are under $20. Since they have 3/8 drive you can put allen head bits on them also and this helps when removing door striker plates.
