Martin, BTDT on the Halogen transformer surgury. I installed a string of 3 under-counter lights from Wal-Mart replacing the horrid flourescent lamp my westy came with. (I keep the Original fixture boxed and bubble wrapped. I believe these lamps are 3W but I can't find the package/paper to verify. It is really good light, very brite and cosy. It's wired right into the 12v line. Make sure you tap an always hot line like the drivers side dome light. Another nice lighting addition is the Coleman Tent Light Model 830-250 found at K-mart. Powered by 4 AAA batteries. It was designed to attach to tent material using a backing plate and 2 PowFul magnets on the lamp. Works as intended in the pop top or stick it right on any metal surface. I have a felt backing to protect the surface. Good light and can be moved around as needed. (No Mods Needed ;) Enjoy your WBX. John Meeks Top of Lower Michigan 91 Westfalia MultiVan

-----Original Message----- <<<<SNIP>>>> 1. I found a set of 2 halogen lights this weekend at IKEA that I'd like to put in the camper for extra light when camping. They use 10 watt bulbs and are designed for under-counter or recessed lighting in a cabinet. They plug into the wall using a transformer that converts 120v 60hz to an output of 12V AC 1.67A 20VA. My question is, will these work in the vanagon if I hardwire them to the 12V system(w/out the transformer). The set was only $9.95 so no big deal either way but they would be cool to have in the westy.

Thanks,

Martin
