Hey Arthur,

Your best bet is probably tap larger. Best solution is a 3/8" pipe tap. It is a tapered tap. You can get a plug from any hardware store. You will need a pipe plug. Since it is a pipe plug, it tightens the farther you screw it in. It is virtually impossible to ever strip again.
